What our customers say
"Over the last 7 years we have found Silclear tubing very cost effective, and it has helped immensely in reducing our TBC's. All the original milk tubes are still in place, and we have continued to upgrade the rest of the pipework with Silclear. I am only to pleased to recommend Silclear to you."
Mr. Bryan Pass, Farm manager, Longdown Dairy Farm, Southampton.
"Silclear has been installed in my parlour since November 1991, and I have no problems with it. It is easy to keep clean and I can see what is happening in the milk lines. Silclear is far superior to black rubber throughout the parlour. I initially thought it cost me more, but Silclear has certainly saved me money over the years."
Mr. John Norris, Farmer, Summerfield Farm, Whatley, Frome.
What New Zealand farmers say
"Silclear is nicer to work with and you can pick things up a lot quicker. We used the milk tubing at our last job as well"
Mr M & Mrs H Taylor (24 Herringbone - Ruakaka - Northland)
"Being able to see which side of my receiving can is blocked is a real bonus. It does not flake and no cracks means it keeps smooth and is a breeze to clean. I put it in 4 years ago and it really has saved me money".
Mr A K Singer (18 Herringbone - Pokena - South Auckland)
"Anyone that knows me knows I put my cows health first, and it had troubled me for some time why the hard teat end problem would not go away on some cows. I tried everthing - and have been exceptionally pleased with the Silclear inflations, which I attribute the elimination of the problen to. The inflations are so soft on the cows for a long period of time - teat end damage has gone and not only that - this season I have had no damage whatsoever!"
Mr N Hurley (17 Herringbone - Otorohanga - Waikato)
They are extremely light and this is in their favour, the cows seem to enjoy them and they milk out very even - weight is definitely not needed. You can see what is going on and my worker and I also enjoy less strain in the wrists when milking. I'd talk to anyone about using them".
Mr B H & Mrs J A Laing (29 Herringbone - Te Kauwhata - Waikato)
"The liners are great - no problems at all this season so I'm saving money - it's great to milk and have no worries. I'd recommend them to anyone".
Mr K Redaway (16 Herringbone - Matamata - Waikato)
"It's simple - we have Silclear right through and would not use anything else".
Mr A and Mrs M P Maier (28 Rotary - Matangi - Waikato)
"The biggest problem with our old steel shells was that they were creating havoc - the cows used to get blue rings a lot of the time and we have had none of this with the Silclear Liners and the heifers and cows have come right. The milk tubing is good too, as it is light like the liners, and I'm sure the cows feel the difference. I had 60 heifers come in and they all took to the liners very well. I think teat condition is 90% better than it was.
Another major benefit I have found is that if cups fall off for any reason - you can see muck in between the liner and shell, and clear it out quickly. You can squirt the hose up, whereas before you did not know if it was clean or not. They are just good all round - lovely things to handle".
Mr G Reardon (20 Herringbone - Stratford - Taranaki)
"We have been pleased with them. They are a lot softer on the cows and we have had a good run with teat condition. Previously when we took the cups off there would be a purple tinge to the teat but there is none of that with the Silclear liners. Even if they are on a little longer than necessary there is no dis-colouration to the teats.
Also previously, every season we would get a small number of cows, 2-4 with black pox but we have not had any for the last 2 years since the liners have been on.
Being so light took a bit of getting used to. Initially we were worried they may not milk out but they do. Cost wise they seemed more expensive compared to rubber, but we would have to replace rubber ones every 2,500 milkings anyway, and we have gained financially in other ways. We have had no grades this season regarding Thermodurics and our SCC has been low.
We have introduced 60 heifers every year, and even this job has become easier with very few kicking cups off. After 2 full seasons, we have already managed 11,500 milkings with our original liners, way over the 10,000 milkings expected, and you have to be pretty happy with that!"
Mr J W J & Mrs M K King (28 Herringbone - New Plymouth - Taranaki)
"The liners milk the cows out well, and are excellent for teat condition. You can see the liner collapse below the teat, not at the end of the teat like rubber ones. In big sheds like ours with staff on, you have to make sure that the liners are washed regularly and watched so that they stay on the 3rd notch, and keep straight. We are milking about 700-1100 cows with them, and so have had a few shells break, and a few liners with holes. Also we have found that they milk the cows out faster. For any farmers milking their own herd, these liners are the way to go".
Mr K & Mrs W Zeestraten (36 Rotary and 56 Herringbone - Winton - Southland)
Comments from Silclear Liner Users Worldwide
Mr J Norris, 8 unit A-breast, Somerset, England
'The liners are going really well - the thing that impresses me most about Silclear is how cheap it is! At first it seems expensive but I got 8 years out of my last set of milk tubing and just put in a new lot when I got the liners late last year - it is so superior to rubberware - not only 'money wise' but 'hygiene wise' as well - it really is so easy to clean and keep clean, get some - you'll not look back!'.
Alistair Magill, 8 unit Herringbone, Hillsborough, Northern Ireland
'All my Silclear is going well. We find the product No 1 - Excellent! It is very pliable in cold weather - on a frosty morning it is totally workable. TBC's have always been below 10 since putting Silclear in. I also feel that the liners are kinder to teats'.
Mr Peter Warboys, 28 Rotary, Taranaki, New Zealand
'The liners are great to work with. The best thing I've seen is that teat end damage has gone - we were having problems with that at the start of spring. I'd certainly recommend other farmers use them - they look great in the parlour too!'
JWJ and MK Kind, 32 Herringbone, New Plymouth, New Zealand
'We bought 14 and we are going to upgrade and get the rest shortly. Silclear liners are great to work with and good on the cows - it's also great to see what is going on inside the liner.'
Tony Thomas, 36 Rotary, Rakaia, South Island, New Zealand
The liners seem much more gentle on the cows and there is no cup slippage. They might be dearer but just like the milk tubing and fittings - I reckon it's money in the bank in terms of peace of mind alone!'
HM Roberts, 4 unit Tandem Llanelli, Wales
'I thought the liners would not work because it uses just one size. I am most impressed - any teat size works!'
David Limond, 12 unit Abreast, Somerset, England
' Working with the Silclear liners has helped my back tremendously - I used to work with the steel shells. The Silclear unit is nice and light to work with and they are easy to keep clean I find.'
Peter Bright, 16 unit Herringbone, Hampshire, England
'I was involved in the trial period for Silclear Ltd. Normally I change rubber liners every 4 months as I am milking 144 cows, 3 times a day. I used the same sets of Silclear liners for 22 months or 660 days!
What I found most fascinating, (apart from the savings of course) was that the liners did not change shape or lose their tension. There was also a noticeable reduction in the number of cases of clinical mastitis.'
Steven Rennie, 8 unit Herringbone, Ayrshire, Scotland
I have had them on for over 1 year now. The most important thing to me is that teat end damage throughout the herd has disappeared. Also the heifers are not bothered with these at all - it used to take 3-4 days to coach my heifers - now it takes just 1 day and I do not need anyone helping. Cost savings all round!
Mr Gleave (Snr), 8 unit Abreast, Cheshire, England
'They milk them out dry, I have had some heifers calve and none have kicked them off yet - even one that's been flighty! The cows seem quieter probably because the liners are kind - they appear nice and subtle'.
Robin Lamb, 12 unit Herringbone, Armagh, Northern Ireland
'Silclear is light and easy to handle - very flexible and there is a lot less weight involved. Because it is clear it gives you a much better idea about what is going on in both the milk tubing and pulsation tubing. The taps on the Jar Bottoms speed up milk recording too!
James Mott, 12 unit Herringbone, Larpent, Victoria, Australia
'Since fitting the Silclear tubing our bacteria count has dropped dramatically. Flexibility is great, clarity good and you can see any clots in the milk.'
Ian Smith, 10 unit Herringbone, Allansford, Victoria, Australia
Silclear has great clarity, it's flexible and easy to handle and it is easy to clean so thre is no build up or residue. We use stainless steel claws with no plastic sight bowls, the tubing is our sight bowl!' |
